Tomorrow starts our adventure to Washington DC and soon after my internship at Development Seed. Having canceled Comcast and having no access to the "real Internet" I'm posting this from my iPhone, so have mercy. Below is our flight itinerary so at least some people know where we are. This is an amazing video of the "bubble-smith" Sterling Johnson on Stinson Beach blowing enormous bubbles. A lot of people believe it to be fake but apparently Sterling Johnson is a fairly well know bubble-smith.

I've been working on this mystery project for just a few days and it is already looking fairly decent. I've been very impressed with the power and speed of developing with Django, and I love the Python syntax. If you're curious I'm also using the Google Visualizations API, the Google Maps API (may integrate MapBox later on) and a bit of jQuery here and there.

This was a project where someone wrote a Firefox extension that detected whenever a website requested data from Google and sounded an alarm. It's not really surprising because of Google Analytics but it raises awareness about how much data Google collects whether you are using their services or not.

This last week in Vermont has been hot and humid, very hot and humid. I was extremely glad that I had the past week off from work because @vermontbiz still is not air conditioned, but word on the street is that is soon to change. With great humidity comes a damp and smelly basement, even with the dehumidifier running. @edesjard and I decided to move our bedroom upstairs, with an air conditioner installed of course. We then moved our living room into our old bedroom, a cozier remodeled room in the basement, not quite as smelly or damp. It took several days of heavy lifting but we have completed all four stages of the move, here are photos of the reward.

Every now and again there is a web service that I instantly fall in love with. The last music related one that really caught my attention was Lala, which sadly was killed off after its acquisition by Apple. I recently applied for an invitation from @rdio, while they can't spell (I belive it's spelt radio), they do know how to build a kick-ass music service. I have ten invitations and I highly suggest anyone reading this to hit me up for one (DM me on Twitter @tristanoneil). The web interface is simply elegant and they have a pretty extensive music collection. Rdio has a iPhone app and Blackberry app released and an Android app coming soon. I took a few screenshots just because I thought the interface was so fluid and beautiful, this is how you do a web app folks.

We took these photos almost exactly a year ago, they were supposed to be promo photos for the former I Like Beer TV. It was a wild ride five episodes, a spin off show, and an article in a local "hippy dippy" newspaper. We (me and @edesjard) started the day out at Otter Creek had a few samples, nothing new here. We then turned around headed back to Lincoln Peak Vineyard & Winery a few miles back in New Haven, we ended up buying three bottles of wine. Not really related to beer but if you're into wine at all Lincoln Peak has amazing wines grown with 100% Vermont grapes. We then headed down south towards Long Trail Brewery. I enjoyed a sampler and Ellen had a pint of Blackbeary Wheat, again nothing new here but enjoyable none the less. We then moved eastward towards Harpoon where I ordered a 10 oz chalice of the Harpoon Leviathan Big Bohemian Pilsner which was surprising well balanced for 75 IBUs and 9% ABV. We finished up the day at one of my favorite local eateries in Burlington Buyeno Ey Sano. Exciting and long day I look forward to finishing up the remaining breweries on the Vermont Brewery Challenge.
